William was a stockbroker who during the early stages of the war was engaged on ARP duties until a serious illness brought these to a conclusion. He died at ‘Ridgewood’, Lichfield Road, Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield on Sunday 25^th August 1940, aged 35, as a result of enemy action whilst staying with his parents. William is buried in the cemetery at Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire. 

His wife was the sister of an OW.
