George was the youngest OW to die in the war at just 18 years old, having left school earlier than planned to enlist. His death on Monday 31^st March 1941 coming as a result of a mid-air collision between his aircraft and that of another trainee pilot.

Based at RAF Brize Norton, the school focused on twin-engine pilot training using the Airspeed AS.10 Oxford twin-engine monoplane aircraft.

George is buried in Fawkham (St.Mary) Churchyard, Hartley, Kent.
