Equipped with Vickers Valentine tanks, the regiment served with the 23rd Armoured Brigade in North Africa. It fought at El Alamein and acquired the nickname "Monty's Foxhounds" during the long pursuit of the Afrika Korps and the Italian Army across Egypt and Libya into Tunisia. William lost his life at the age of 22 on Tuesday 6th April 1943 and now lies in the Sfax War Cemetery in Tunisia.

Commissioned 3rd May 1939; nothing more is known at the present time of Edward’s military career, nor how he met his death.

Son of William Edward Fisher & Margaret Noel Fisher of Crosby, Liverpool, Lancashire.
