Henry Willis writes:
'I am going to Nepal in July as a volunteer through the expedition programme that the Charity Raleigh International offer as part of their project for positive change in countries that are in desperate need of help. I have chosen to go to Nepal because rural communities in this country are in urgent need of support as they are lacking access to clean water. While we are out there, we will be building hand sanitation stations, toilet blocks and also teaching the community how to maintain them sustainably.
I’m looking forward to working with the community and helping to have a positive impact on their lives. I think that the language barrier will challenge me but it will make me more determined to pick up phrases and connect with the community.
In the month of January, I ran the width of Nepal and smashed my goal of 193 km by 18 km, finishing my challenge with my first ever half marathon.
Initially I was meant to be travelling to Nepal to volunteer at the end of April however due to the Pandemic, I will now be going out in July. However, as a result the trip is now a week longer and is going to cost more so I hope to do some more fundraising over the next few months to reach my fundraising target.'
