Richard Taylor - Ed Tech entrepreneur and investor
Educated in Australia, Richard has been involved in many business sectors from farming to banking with his corporate career defined by having been sacked several times and never once being promoted. He founded his first education business in 1992 and also invested in Australian and UK media start-ups. During the first dotcom boom he lived in San Francisco before moving to London in 2002. Since then he has founded and sold two education businesses and been an active investor in early-stage edtech companies. 
To make ends meet between the boom and bust of start-ups he has done consulting projects for lots of companies, one of which is still listed by Guinness World Records as the largest online education event (1.2m kids answered 480m questions over 48hrs). He has been involved in programs ranging from hackathons to start-up events as well as working as an expert for the EU’s Horizon 2020, Innovate UK and NESTA. Outside the business of education, Richard spends most of his time in the countryside with his dog.

Guy video-called a full house of pupils in the lecture theatre to talk about his incredible career, and how pupils can get into the music business without being a musician. Having worked with artists including Ed Sheeran, BTS, Sam Smith and Ariana Grande, Wrekin are incredibly grateful to Guy for sparing his time and for inspiring our pupils to dream big.
