Wrekin’s Retro Shack idea was the overall winner of the Young High Street Challenge. The Wrekin team have won £20,000 from Telford & Wrekin Council’s Pride in Our Community High Street Fund to make their idea come to life.
Wrekin College pupils have been involved in the Young High Street Challenge since Lent term 2018 when they took part in a challenge to come up with ideas to rejuvenate the high streets of Wellington, Ironbridge, Oakengates, Dawley, Newport and Madeley. The Young High Street Challenge is run by Telford & Wrekin Council as part of its Pride in Our Community High Street Fund initiative.
The finals of the Young High Street Challenge were similar in format to the hit TV show Dragon’s Den, and Wrekin’s Retro Shack idea was the overall winner.
After a lot of planning and preparation, the Retro Shack will be officially opened on Saturday 14th December from 1pm, and you are more than welcome to attend and support Wrekin's pupil's in their latest sustainable business venture.
