MEMORIES OF WREKIN
“My first day was probably slightly different to most because I knew where all the buildings were so that wasn't daunting for me, Wrekin was my home. I do remember feeling smaller than everybody else, every time we walked past senior girls in the school they would look at each other and say ‘aren’t they cute’! I’m not sure anyone would say that now! “I loved my time at Wrekin and in York House; sport was a huge part of that. One of my fondest memories was scoring the winning runs to beat Shrewsbury School on cricket Big Side. The smile on Andy Hurd’s face as we walked off was a picture."
AFTER WREKIN
“After Wrekin I studied Hospitality Business Management in Birmingham and after a short stint working in Connecticut I decided to make a career change. In 2006 I set up an events company called Relentless Events; 17 years later we are still going strong and I believe my time at Wrekin gave me the opportunity and self belief to take chances and assert myself in the business world. “I now live in Oldswinford, Stourbridge, with my wife Lucy and son Oscar but still return to Shropshire often to see my father, who lives in Wellington, and visit the school regularly as an active Governor and in my role as Chair of the OWA Committee. I grew up at Wrekin and it will always be home to me.”
