William was a stockbroker who during the early stages of the war was engaged on ARP duties until a serious illness brought these to a conclusion. He died at ‘Ridgewood’, Lichfield Road, Four Oaks, Sutton Coldfield on Sunday 25th August 1940, aged 35, as a result of enemy action whilst staying with his parents. William is buried in the cemetery at Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire. 

His wife was the sister of an OW.

Husband of Mary Hayward of St. George's Hill, Weybridge, Surrey: son of S. Philip Hayward.
