George was the youngest OW to die in the war at just 18 years old, having left school earlier than planned to enlist. His death on Monday 31st March 1941 coming as a result of a mid-air collision between his aircraft and that of another trainee pilot.

Based at RAF Brize Norton, the school focused on twin-engine pilot training using the Airspeed AS.10 Oxford twin-engine monoplane aircraft.

George is buried in Fawkham (St.Mary) Churchyard, Hartley, Kent.
