WINDSOR [1928-1932]

Henry died at his home 17 Rodney Street, Liverpool, on Saturday 9th August 1941 at the age of 26 from Hodgkin's lymphoma and so not officially recognised as a casualty of war by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. He was buried in Toxteth Park Cemetery, Liverpool.

A very cheerful small boy who showed much all-round promise. He left Wrekin early and became an apprentice at British Insulated Cables, and after three years was transferred to the Electrical Department of the Liverpool Corporation, subsequently being appointed Assistant Mains Engineer.

Described by his Colonel on learning of his death as “A first-class officer, and a great leader of men; his loss is a great one to the Regiment, and he leaves behind him a great record and a decided gap.” A fine tribute to the one-time engaging small boy with an ever-ready smile and lively interest in everything about him.

Only child of William Henry Broad & Cynthia Broad of Liverpool, Lancashire.
