William was a Chartered Accountant in civilian life. His battalion saw action in the invasion of Sicily and the subsequent Italian campaign during which time he lost his life at the age of 29 on Monday 17th January 1944. William is the third and final OW to lie in Minturno War Cemetery in Italy.

Only son of William Morton & Jessie Morton, of Hyde, Cheshire.
