Wrekin held a presentation evening on an exciting new opportunity that will hopefully be coming to Wrekin Sixth Form in September 2020, subject to demand. The new BTEC Agriculture course offers a range of opportunities to develop varied employability skills while learning more about the agricultural industry.
Students will learn more about this massive and varied industry, with high demand for reliable, responsible and motivated individuals. The course offers a fantastic opportunity to combine technical knowledge with practical skills. The practical aspect of the course also perfectly equips students that go onto higher-level apprenticeships.
While studying students will:
• Develop interview skills, meeting a range of local employers and discovering more about the diversification of farms in the area.
• Identify land-management techniques
• Further understand the role of health and safety within the industry
• Get invaluable practical experience with placements on farms in the local area
• Make links with future employers and higher education providers.
This course is designed to run alongside other A level options and is recognised by a number of higher education providers.
