Our OW Sports Day towards the end of March was a great success, with a new and improved experience for all, with fierce but friendly competition against the school teams not dampened by the poor weather!
The day began with a breakfast reception in Wrekin's Business School where there was a chance to catch up with old friends in the warm and dry! Bacon butties, pastries, fruit juice, tea and coffee helped get everyone ready for the competition ahead!
The matches took place across the morning, with rolling refreshments in the sports hall to fuel the players, and the spectators who certainly had to battle the elements.
A delicious lunch and drinks reception followed the conclusion of the matches, with the Winterton cup being presented for the first time ever to this year's winners who were... the Old Wrekinians!
Every player left with their own goody bag as a thank you for playing.
Make sure you watch out for next year's date as we look to develop and grow this event.
The individual results of the matches were as follows:
In hockey the OWA girls 1st XI, 2nd XI and boys 1st XI won against the school, and the boys 2nd XI lost 3-2. In netball there was a great competitive game where the Old Wrekinians saw the school First team take command, who won 45-31.
A big thank you to everyone who played, both for the Old Wrekinians, and the School, and to all those who came out to support.
