"After completing my A levels at Wrekin, I joined the Royal Air Force as an ICT Technician which entailed attending RAF Halton for a ten-week basic training course covering drill, general service knowledge, physical education and military field skills such as first aid, weapon handling and protection against chemical weapons. I am very grateful to the CCF section at Wrekin for the knowledge on handling weapons and drill which really gave me an advantage during my training, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff involved.

Unfortunately, the Pandemic delayed the start of my Phase 2 Training, however I was called up to Operation Rescript, the codename for the British military operation to help tackle the COVID-19 Pandemic in the UK. I was sent to Merthyr Tydfil, which at the time had the highest rates in the whole of the UK, where we provided Lateral Flow Tests to the local population. In addition to this role, I was called on to provide Military guard for the UK Special Forces for training exercises.

Once I was able to complete my Phase 2 Training, I was stationed at RAF Cosford for an eight-month course which helped me learn about my trade and the different support services which we provide for the Royal Air Force. I have now graduated from this training and I am now posted to a Tactical Communications Wing. We provide the Royal Air Force and the Joint Community with communications and information systems in exercises and Operational Theatres around the world. We enable a full range of Air’s functions including Command and Control, Combat Air, ISTAR, Air Mobility, Engineering, and Medical services.

So far I have loved every minute of my career in the Royal Air Force and I am looking forward to what the future entails"
