After leaving Wrekin, David graduated with a NDD at Liverpool College of Arts as a Technical Illustrator.  He opened his own advertising agency, Leighton Advertising, with offices in Liverpool, Chester and Manchester and was incredibly successful.  Unfortunately, the company went into liquidation in 1990, and despite the inevitable stress of the situation, David seized the opportunity to start painting professionally.

David specialises in marine and wildlife subjects as well as portraits painted in acrylics. He is a prominent member of the committee for the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art and is currently Vice Chairman of Deeside Arts Group, and is an honorary life member of the Liverpool Artists Club.

In addition, David has recently collated a number of his paintings into a catalogue Seabirds Nobbies & Myths – The ramblings of a Merseyside artist which combines art, history and David’s personal experiences which would make an excellent Christmas gift for anyone interested in Maritime history.

David sells to collectors locally in the North West as well as in Scotland, America and Switzerland, and undertakes commissions on a range of subjects. David can be contacted at davart@btinternet.com and his website address is www.dav-art.co.uk.

David is a frequent attendee of the Chester Lunch run twice a year and continues to support the Liverpool Branch by attending the Hoylake dinner with his wife. If you would like to catch up with David personaly at one of these events, please get in touch with the Development Office.
