Introduction from the new Chair of the Old Wrekinian Association, Simon Richards (T. 02-07)

I am delighted and honoured to have been elected Chair of the Old Wrekinian Association. It is both a privilege and a responsibility, and I look forward to serving our community in the years ahead.

Earlier this term, I returned to Wrekin for the centenary of Tudor House. As a former Head of Tudor, it was moving to stand once again in the Chapel and reflect on the traditions that have shaped generations of Wrekinians. It was wonderful to see so many Tudor alumni gathered together, and inspiring to meet current pupils who are now building their own memories within those same walls.

This term the OWA came together for the Manchester Lunch, which was a fantastic occasion to reconnect and share stories. Later this term we will gather again for the London Dinner, another opportunity to celebrate the values that bind us as Wrekinians and to strengthen the friendships and networks that endure long after school days are over.

Looking forward, my aim as Chair is to uphold the traditional values that define Wrekin while ensuring the voice of the OWA is heard. I also want to continue to build on the success of OWA Sport, which has flourished in recent years. Alongside this, we will keep working closely with the Development Office so that Old Wrekinians can support career fairs, contribute to the new business directory, and create wider opportunities for fellow Wrekinians.

Above all, I want to strengthen the sense of belonging that comes from being part of this community. Once a Wrekinian, always a Wrekinian.

Warmest regards,

Simon Richards,

Chair, OWA
