Oliver joined the RAF on leaving Wrekin where he qualified as a Sergeant-Airgunner with 40 Squadron which in late 1944 was based at Foggia, Italy, flying the Vickers Wellington X twin-engine medium bomber.
His aircraft, Wellington X LP-732, took off at 17:02hrs on 22nd November but was initially reported missing on 23rd November when it failed to return from operations to bomb some railway marshalling yards over Szombathely, Hungary.
Oliver, aged 20, is buried in Budapest War Cemetery in Hungary.
